I’m a beginner. Will the workouts be too hard for me?
No way! Every workout can be modified to every fitness level. That’s part of the beauty of the huge video library of exercise moves that we have available for members. We’ll recommend modifications for you right there in your program — and if you have a question about what any move involves, just go to the video and watch me do it!
I want to lose weight. Is this the program for me?
The 30-Day Membership program is not designed for weight loss, but that result is entirely possible.
If you want a program that focuses on intuitive eating, joyful movement and authentic self-love building, sign up to be notified when The Phoenix Method opens for enrollment.
What are the tracks and who are they for?
Rise Up is the track for people who struggle with depression, lack of motivation, low energy or overwhelm.
The Sweat It Out track is for those who struggle with anxiety, high stress and impatience, and who get bored easily or have hectic schedules.
I’m not sure which track to join. I’m a little bit of both!
Most of us are! Go with the one that sounds the most like you right now. If you get one week into it and think it’s not the right track, we’ll be happy to switch you to the other one. If you’re a complete beginner to exercise, we recommend Rise Up.
How do the workouts differ for each track?
Both tracks include full-body weekly workout videos with Amy’s guidance.
Sweat It Out is made up of short, intense H.I.I.T. (High Intensity Interval Training) Workouts. They’re meant to get you the most bang for your buck in as little time as possible while directing your anxious energy out through movement.
Rise Up features calming but challenging strength workouts with periods of cardio and rest. Designed to ease resistance and stress, we stay away from moves that amp up your fight-or-flight response and instead focus on slower, deliberate movement in coordination with your breath.
Do I need equipment for the workouts?
You’ll need a pair of dumbbells (we recommend one light pair and one heavy pair), but that’s it! You can get them used through CraigsList.com, or new for fairly cheap at Amazon.com.
Can I do the workouts without equipment?
Sure! You may have to do more reps or sets to make up the level of difficulty that weights would add to your program, but we can help you do that. Just know that you may be repeating moves week-to-week if you don’t have dumbbells.
What are Mindset Challenges?
Mindset Challenges are 15-day commitments to your mindfulness, inner peace or positivity. Created with your track in mind, each challenge will help you ease your particular struggle.
Will Amy be in the Facebook group?
Yes! Amy chimes in at least 3 times a week on weekdays. If you have a question specifically for her, tag her in a post and she’ll get back to you ASAP!
What are Amy’s certifications?
Glad you asked! Here goes: NASM CPT, NASM CES, PN1, Equinox Fitness Training Institute Tier III, ViPR, Kettlebell Athletics and Prenatal/Postnatal Fitness Training. I am not, however, a mental health professional, but I sure am a great virtual cheerleader.
How much support can I expect from the Facebook group?
You can’t even imagine. 🙂 We are proud to say that this group is the most positive, supportive, judgment-free group we’ve ever been a part of, and it's extremely active. We go to great lengths to ensure the groups are kept private and safe. Other members are working their way through similar struggles, so they’re eager to support you because they know you’ll support them! Plus, it feels good to know you’re helping someone.
Beyond that, our coaches will be in the group regularly to promote mindfulness and positivity with their own prompts and updates. Even the shyest member will feel welcomed and loved in this group. Just reading stories and comments from others can help us feel less alone. How often you speak up is completely up to you.
Is the support you offer like therapy?
Amy Clover and the Bootcamp coaches are not mental health professionals. None of the programming, information or advice we offer is meant as a replacement for counseling or medical expertise. We know what it’s like to struggle and we want to send you many virtual hugs as you work through it, but we highly recommend starting with counseling from a professional before joining our program. In fact, this program works best in conjunction with regular therapy. We’ve helped many Bootcampers find therapists in their area or online, so please let us know if you’d like some recommendations!
I’m having thoughts of self-harm or suicide. Is this right for me?
We know what that’s like and our hearts go out to you. The process of rising up out of deep depression, suicidal thoughts or self-harm takes a time commitment and level of effort that we believe should be focused on completely without distraction from other programs. Until you’re further on your road to recovery and aren’t currently having thoughts of self-harm, know that our thoughts are with you — but we think you should wait to commit to a physically demanding program like this one. Taking on too much at once can be detrimental to your recovery, but we look forward to helping you when you’re feeling better and are truly ready.
If you’re currently in an emergency situation, please call 9-1-1 (or your local emergency line) or The Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255.
When are the live group coaching calls?
Group coaching call times vary according to Amy’s event and shooting schedules. They will be on weeknights between 5 and 7:30 p.m. Pacific Time, or on weekend mornings between 8 and 11 a.m. Pacific time.
Are the live group coaching calls recorded?
No. We encourage vulnerability and intimacy on our calls, and we believe that recording them deters people from fully opening up to receive the support they need.
How do I join the live group coaching calls?
We use free video meeting software to host our calls. You can join from your computer or a mobile device with an app, or call in from your phone. We’ll send you all the info when you join!
What if I don’t like the program?
While we hope that we can help, we understand that personalities differ and what may work for one person may not work for the next. Try a week of the 30-Day Membership, and if it’s not for you, we will refund you a prorated amount for the final 23 days of the program. You have until day 8 of your membership to let us know if you’d like to cancel, after which we will not issue refunds. Just reply directly to one of the weekly emails we send you to cancel. Whatever the case, please speak up for your needs and we'll do our best to address them!
